Marie Anne Janita Richard, 81, of Collette, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital. Born in Rogersville, NB, she was the daughter of the late Calixte and Elmina (Pitre) Richard.
She attended Eglise Notre-Dame-de-Fatima Roman Catholic Church in Collette, and Eglise Saint-Francois-de-Sales in Rogersville.
Her career was spent in Chatham, NB, where she was an RNA at the former Hotel Dieu Hospital, retiring from there after a life dedicated to the care of others.
In her retirement, she was a faithful servant of her church, giving selflessly to the work of the parish as well as to her favourite charity, L’Arbre de l’Espoir.
She is survived by one brother, Arnel Richard, of Collette, several nieces, nephews and cousins, and special Godchildren, Anne Wentzell of Fredericton and Arnel Martin of Moncton.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her half-sisters, Zelia (Morley) Fisher, Yvonne (Mathias) Morin, and Alice (Edgar) McGraw as well as two half brothers, Joseph and Alderic Richard and a Godson Norman McGraw.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 13, at 2pm at the Saint-Francois-de-Sales Roman Catholic Church in Rogersville, NB with Father Doris Laplante officiating. Burial to follow in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to a charity of one’s choice.
