Collette - It is with heavy hearts that we have to announce the passing of our father Emmanuel Gaudet on Friday the 30th of December 2016, at the age of 98 years young. Our father passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
Our entire family were able to share Christmas dinner with him for one last time this year. As always, we had a laugh opening gifts and just simply sharing the comfort of each other's company.
Although we'd done this too many times to remember, this year was made different by the presence of five month old Kaylee, our parents newest great grandchild. Her presence brought much joy to all of us, specially to our parents.
As a World War 2 veteran, our dad was seen by many in our small town as a hero. No doubt he was. We, his family have always thought of him as a hero, but for different reasons.
He and our mother are the ones that set our lives in motion, what seems like a hundred years ago. They taught us how to live our lives. They passed along their wisdom, their strength, their love and their ability to love.
Our father is survived by his wife of 66 years Regina (nee Landry), Paul (Rose-Mai), Yvon (Gisele), Eric (Sylvie), Jean-Guy (Agnes), Geraldine (Clarence), Maria (John) and our baby sister Cecilia. He is also survived by 9 grand kids, 3 great grand kids, brothers Joseph and Tom, as well as sister Claudia and Pauline.
Although our father will no longer be with us in the flesh, whenever we get together as a family, he will be at our table. In bright days and in dark days, he will stand by us. As long as one of us breaths, a piece of our father will remain. As you look down on us Pape, I know you can feel our love. We, your sons and daughters, will forever feel yours, until someday, God willing, we once again sit at your table.
